IAAP-UK?

Hi all,

This section has just caught my eye and I wanted to know if UK members can join IAAP? I am interested in becoming a member I have been on the website but couldn't see any relevent information, Can anyone help?

Yes there are some UK members but probably far and few between.  Hopefully someone from IAAP can tell you more - strange there's no info on their site though, but if you email them I'm sure they'll be able to respond from their office base.

Jackie is right. There are IAAP members in the UK, but nothing organised. I've been a member myself for a number of years. Apart from the magazine you don't get much else for your membership fee, unless of course you're able to attend events in the US. I'm not a member anymore, as for me the point of joining any network is to meet up with other members or at least keep in touch through emails.

My question therefore is: why join IAAP unless you get a sufficient number of people together to organise events in the UK? Aren't you better off joining existing networks (EUMA, IQPS, Amspar etc)?

IAAP has many international members -- in more than 60 countries across the globe.  IAAP also has approx. 25 international affiliate secretarial organizations.  Granted, there is no IAAP chapter in the UK.  Inquiries from UK received by IAAP are normally forwarded to IQPS.  International members are more than welcome and may  join IAAP as members-at-large.
