Title: Admin Professionals Day Post by: gee4 on April 21, 2009, 08:55:18 am Happy Admin Professionals Day to all....not that myself or anyone I know is celebrating or attending an event.
I think the Secretaries in my company would benefit from such a networking event as we have around 16 individuals who support Senior Managers right up to CEO level across all department functions. The event I attended in recent years is quite expensive so I understand it would be unfair not to allow everyone to attend, never mind having us all off site for a whole day. If anyone does attend an event today or celebrates at work, please share. Title: Re: Admin Professionals Day Post by: viviennenoyle on April 21, 2009, 12:27:58 pm It's admin professionals week this week, secretaries day (or whatever they're calling it now) is tomorrow, I believe. We're not doing anything at my firm this year, as far as I'm aware. Last year we got a generic ecard sent to all the secretaries, a box of chocolates each, specially branded post its and pens (the pens are proper pens, not dodgy plastic ones, there was a bizarre level of excitement over free stationery!!) and in my office we were given a sandwich lunch at the firm's expense.
This year I haven't been asked to organise anything for lunch, and I'm not aware that anyone else has, so I don't think there will be anything like that. I'd be very surprised if there was due to the economy etc. The chocolates we'll only know about if they're on our desks when we get in tomorrow, but again I'll be surprised if they are. I think we can't expect more than the ecard this year. Title: Re: Admin Professionals Day Post by: gee4 on April 21, 2009, 12:47:47 pm I was only a day out but it's the right week....
Administrative Professionals Day formerly known as Secretary's Day is an unofficial secular holiday observed on the Wednesday of the last full week of April (i.e. April 25, 2007; April 23, 2008; April 22, 2009; April 21, 2010), to recognize the work of secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists, and other administrative support professionals. Title: Re: Admin Professionals Day Post by: rose.winter1980 on April 22, 2009, 04:50:22 pm In that case, I will celebrate it by having a nice piece of cake and congratulating myself on being very splendid indeed (which I am, and even he who brings champagne truffles acknowledges that fact).
Gee - what d'ya mean about a "secular" celebration? Admin Professionals Day should be a religious celebration. Religiously celebrated by our bosses! I can dream. How's that!
PS the photocopier deserves it as it decided that my A4 document should really be copied onto A3 paper! AAAHHHHHH! Title: Re: Admin Professionals Day Post by: gee4 on April 22, 2009, 06:18:25 pm Known throughout the world.
Title: Re: Admin Professionals Day Post by: rose.winter1980 on April 23, 2009, 10:42:08 am Well, I did buy a selection of very tiny Mediterranean-inspired cakes to celebrate. Tiny little pastries stuffed with nuts, and very delicious they were too. I feel very happy.
