Title: Is your desk set up ergonomically correctly?
Post by: susan silva on November 09, 2010, 09:31:19 am
Is your desk set up ergonomically correct?  If so, how do you have it set up to be comfortable and well adjusted.  If it isn't what could you have set up better?

My chair and monitor are set up correctly.  I have a food rest under my feet.  I can say my "desk" needs improvement.  My phone could be in a better location, I tend to have to twist to get it.  I "should" put all my gadgets in arms reach and put away the rest.  I think I WILL do that, I have no one excuse not to set up my desk better!  Thanks for the post, it is a simple nudge on things I know can be better but just.. haven't done them.

Yes it is.

As a new start (2 years ago) I went through an online Ergonomics test to ensure my workstation and everything around me was set up correctly.  This addressed my posture while seated at my desk, height of chair, distance from keyboard and height/distance of monitor.

My company is very concerned with the working environment of its employees and puts a lot of emphasis on this sort of thing.

(For info, even though I have moved departments in the time I have been here, each workstation was still set up ergonomically).

Jennika - food rest?  I could do with one of those to keep my nibbles on  ;D

I have a large desk with lots of space but it soon gets filled with 'things I must have to hand'.  Chair and PC screen are all at a comfortable height.

The positioning of one thing I would like to alter if I could, which I can't, is the massive window behind me which is great for letting in natural daylight but when the sun shines, you have to lower the blind otherwise you cannot see the screen.

My desk is set up ergonomically correct, which is a great thing.  My company pays attention to these things, which is great.  For example, we had new chairs supplied to everyone recently.  I used mine for a week or two and realized that it was causing me a lot of pain; my company bought another specially for me.  Every part of it is fully-adjustable and it's just perfect.

My keyboard is an ergonomic keyboard, which helps keep my hands in good shape, and I have oodles of natural light.  Being in a corner office has its advantages.

Best wishes,

Celeste

Mine is somewhat correct.  However, the computer table I have is not the best and not level with the desk.  Weird set up, but it works.
