What is everyone getting their Boss for a Xmas/Holiday gift? I work in the public sector so many bosses are not used to geting gifts, or giving them, to much office politics come into play. But I usually give everyone a little something that only cost me a few dollars. I would like to give the boss something just a bit above what I give everyone else, but not anything that might make him feel uncomfortable because he did not get me anything. I have no idea for this year, any sugestions.

Well for me, I've done both above and beyond and not so much above and beyond and they've both gone over very well. What do you give someone that has everything and worse, what he needs he either gets himself or gets as a gift from his family.
So I got him some of his favorite things, a big plastic jug of tootise rolls as I know they are his favorites and a Buffalo Bills calendar for his office wall. That's pretty much it for him. Then I got his wife a Spa packet for under 25.00 from bath and beauty works shops. Oh they smell so good! I went with a cocoa butter scent so it's not too overpowering.
I've done candle arrangement items before, gift certificate books, dining and entertainment books, restaurant gift certificates, etc. etc. so thought this might be something a bit different.
Good luck and happy shopping.

Most of my bosses in the past few years have been women. I have gone for fairly conservative gifts such as: a planted basket, a crystal vase (if you are in Britain, Dartington Crystal is tasteful and simple), a leather business card holder, voucher for a manicure at a really nice nail place, a rocker blotter, books if I know what sort of books bossie likes. Desky-presents seem to work well with my bossies. Failing all else, chocolates from Godiva, Charbonnel or Praestat.
Hope this helps.

Just picked it up - a very nice leather money clip and credit card holder embossed with his initials.
In the past I've gotten him gift baskets (with a variety of coffees and teas), ties (from the art museum, not just a run of the mill type of thing), a nice bottle of wine that I know he likes, and one year I got him a gift certificate to a certain bookstore that I know he shops at.

WOW, I haven't given it much thought. I'm having a hard enough time scrapping up prezzies for my family. I am going to be doing some holiday baking soon, so I suppose I could give bossie (that is, my immediate supervisor) some rum balls. She also likes to relax w/ a nice glass of wine on Friday night, so a bottle of Charles Shaw might be good! I also like to get my co-admins a little something. One of them is old enough to drink and one isn't quite. Maybe I'd better stick with some tea or something...

I normally make a batch of dry Spiced Tea mix or dry Soup mix... and include the recipes. For the soup, I put enough in a little holiday goodie bag to make one serving and tie a ribbon around it and attach the recipe/directions. For the spiced tea, it only takes a couple of teaspoons to make a cup, so I usually put about 1/4-1/2 cup of mix in a goodie bag and tie it like the soup. Then I pass these around to all my friends, co-workers, bossie, etc. Inexpensive gifts, so I can give more of them, and I feel like Santa walking around passing out the goodies. (Some years, I do both and they get a choice. This year I don't have the time, so it'll be just the tea.)

Our office is so small, it's not a problem getting everyone a gift. I usually give them something that they collect or hobbie oriented. One collects dolphins and the other plays golf.... plus sports team stuff usually goes over well.
