Title: The Passing of Pope John Paul II Post by: jak0215 on April 04, 2005, 08:45:38 pm I am not a very religious person but I certainly have Faith. May we all say a prayer for the Pope. As my sister said, now he gets to meet the Boss he has worked for all of his life.

I'm Jewish, so my day-to-day life isn't affected -- so you might think. I have Catholic friends, co-workers, and relatives, and they are affected -- which in turn touches me. There are a large number of Catholics in the world, and with something that affects any large number of people of the world, there is a ripple effect to everyone else.
I have great respect for the position of a pope. I hope the Catholic faith has another leader as strong as him. People are already starting to talk about what kind of pope they want and I think it's a bit disrespectful to the pope, especially since he hasn't been burried yet.
It's a very sad time indeed for the Catholic community (of which I'm a part of). I hope that we can all take the necessary time to grief and then move on. I remember the last pope passing and it wasn't so much of a spectacle that it is now, at least it wasn't covered the same way as it was then, but I certainly do believe it's deserved for such a great man. Have faith that everything will work out in a positive way. It has already brought some folks back to the Catholic church and has opened doors for many discussions, all positive things indeed.
