Title: Terrorists Post by: kittie on January 28, 2002, 02:39:06 pm A news story broke in the UK yesterday that two terrorists captured in Afghanistan and held in Cuba are from my town!!
They attended my high school and lived just around the corner. It seemed like the whole of the UK's media were a few streets away from us. I can't tell you how scary it is to think that it's so close to your own front door. Title: Re: Terrorists Post by: fireproof on January 28, 2002, 08:41:09 pm Fortunately for you, this sort of thing is a road-show (it doesn't play well at home). Fruitloops like these need to go to where the other fruitloops are in order to cultivate their own personal insanity. The madness of crowds, folks, it can't happen in a vacuum.
Unfortunately, the great strides that have been made in communication in the last decade ensures that, wherever there is madness, the nutcases cab hook onto it and join in. On the other hand, here I sit in Alaska, talking to other people like me all over the world. People who are (hopefully) as sane as I am. It's an amazing world we live in! Title: Re: Terrorists Post by: fireproof on January 28, 2002, 08:42:01 pm I meant "can," not "cab." Can you tell I have a cold?
Title: To Fireproof: Small World, Big State Post by: superninjaadmin on January 28, 2002, 09:35:51 pm Small world, but a big state... I about fell over when I read your post. What city in Alaska are you located? I'm in Fairbanks of all places! Good to know I'm not the only one.

I'm in Kenai, the temperate zone, where it's been snowing all day and isn't likely to stop. Title: Re: Terrorists Post by: superninjaadmin on January 29, 2002, 01:54:30 am Polar Bears!!?? Not in Square-banks... Girlfriend, you have got to walk about five hundred more miles north to get to those friendly furry critters...
I lived in Anchorage (went to school there) and we've got some property on the Kenai River right near Sterling. We're planning on building a cabin on it some day so we can drive down, hang out and do some fishing in the summers. Kenai is absolutely gorgeous! SNA Title: Re: Terrorists Post by: fireproof on January 29, 2002, 02:33:45 am Yeah - I knew that.
My home is on the river waaaaaaaaay downstream - about six miles from the mouth of the Kenai where it's inter-tidal (we get belugas in the front yard and caribou in the back - which is a little hard to explain to the relations down south - I saw two coyotes yesterday). But boy are we off topic now. Title: Re: Terrorists Post by: superninjaadmin on January 29, 2002, 06:33:07 am Off topic? No, I don't think so! There's not much difference between "terrorists" and "wild animals" although I'd rather have a wild animal roaming around my back yard any day, thank you very much!
