Title: Week of May 2nd: Are you a morning person? Post by: editorus on May 02, 2005, 11:33:50 pm Some people are morning people, up and active, smiling and wishing you a good morning! Others don't say good morning grumble and reach for the coffee and hide. (not to say they aren't cheery mid morning!). What are you?

Hate mornings with a passion - am in my element at 23.30 hrs - trying to solve the world's problems then (or is it the huge amounts of coffee that I keep drinking kicking in at that time)
Title: Re: Week of May 2nd: Are you a morning person? Post by: sgilmor on May 03, 2005, 12:08:29 pm Definitely a morning person, I much prefer getting into work early and leaving early. Having said that I love evenings too..... its just that bit in the middle that I find tedious, unless of course its lovely and sunny in which case the whole day is marvellous!

Did most of my housecleaning after 9:00pm at night for it to be good. Now I'm finding myself popping awake at the unbelievably early hour of 6:30am on Sat's and Sun's, just before my little one comes stumbling in to wake me up so we can go watch some TV, play some games, and frolick until around 8:30 when he just can't wait any longer to wake up his daddy. I am finding that by mid to late afternoon I've about run my battery low, unless I'm involved in something that keeps me extremely busy, both mentally and physically. Guess I'm still on baby-time... needing that short afternoon nap to make it through the day.

I've tried to break the habit several times but people tell me I'm not very friendly during this process!
Title: Re: Week of May 2nd: Are you a morning person? Post by: jak0215 on May 03, 2005, 04:01:19 pm I am definitely not a morning person. It's best for all of humanity that I don't actually "have to" talk to anyone for at least an hour after I wake up. And then it only to say hello to my fellow train slaves, after that I fall back asleep for the hour it takes to travel to the city. Once I get my additional hour of sleep on the train, I'm back to normal. I would like to be a morning person if I could actually enjoy the peace and quite of the early morning.
Title: Re: Week of May 2nd: Are you a morning person? Post by: editorus on May 03, 2005, 05:05:11 pm My personality is I am not grumpy but I tend to forget to say good morning. I am definately not a morning person, my head just isn't all there first thing in the morning. At night though I am alert and creative. I get that light bulb over my head at 9 pm and I am at my best.
Title: Re: Week of May 2nd: Are you a morning person? Post by: ckm on May 03, 2005, 08:55:26 pm I'm more of a "morning" person when the sun is up when my alarm goes off...in the winter when it is pitch black, the only thing I want to do is roll over for more sleep. To help with this, I bought one of those slowly-brightening lamps (simulates a sunrise), and it has helped me get up in the winter. Once I am up, I am okay, but I am at my most productive early afternoon.
Title: Re: Week of May 2nd: Are you a morning person? Post by: boober on May 04, 2005, 11:10:00 am Definitely not a morning person! Later the better for me
Title: Re: Week of May 2nd: Are you a morning person? Post by: editoruk on May 04, 2005, 05:46:48 pm I would miss mornings out completely if I could. Sometimes I think that if I could get up a little earlier, I would be functioning on full throttle earlier too. But that's the problem with being a night owl - staying up too late getting everything done means that it's difficult to get out of warm and cosy bed any earlier the next morning!!

I turned out to be a moderate owl, which means that I'm ok getting up in the morning (as long as it's not too early) and I am happiest going to bed late (but that can vary quite a bit) This probably explains why I'm not too bad - I have my moments! - at getting up a t 4 am on Sundays to do my radio show, but snuggle under the covers for as long as possible every other morning, and am wide awake on 'days off'!!!! I'm a morning person at the weekends especially on sunny days. I get up early, have a big breakfast while read the paper, go for a walk ... . But I hate early week mornings, especially the rainy ones!

I find I'm doing my most constructive work at around 5.00pm when everyone is going home, and most creative stuff comes to me in the evenings. 9am meetings are a bit of a blurr, so I try to arrange all my important stuff for late morning/early afternoon.
Title: Re: Week of May 2nd: Are you a morning person? Post by: adminsavvy on May 06, 2005, 06:22:52 pm No mornings for me...I'm more of an afternoon/evening person. :-)

Post by: movinonup on May 08, 2005, 12:23:57 pm I used to love the mornings, but find as I grow older (early 50's), I don't get out of bed and off to work so easily. I'm moving more slowly before work on weekdays. Once I'm at my desk, and have had my morning coffee--at least 2 cups--I'm raring to go.
I still get up fairly early on weekends, but can't accomplish much until at least 9:00. Early to bed every night--at least by 10:00. On weekends (or when I'm unemployed), I tend to go back to my "natural rhythm," which means get up around 7:30-8:00 and have a leisurely breakfast (since I'm not much good 'til I at least have a cuppa coffee and a bowl of cereal). Then do some exercise and get to work. I go to bed anywhere between 10-midnight. I'm a big sleeper!
Title: Re: Week of May 2nd: Are you a morning person? Post by: radaro on May 10, 2005, 03:54:55 pm Definitely a morning person. I'm most productive in the morning. Some afternoons I would like to just take a nap!
Title: Re: Week of May 2nd: Are you a morning person? Post by: officewiz on May 16, 2005, 09:41:52 pm I am definitely a morning person. When things pile up in my in box, I get in earlier to catch up. Less people are around--which means less interruptions. My concentration is much better--and I'm more on my toes in the morning!

Title: Re: Week of May 2nd: Are you a morning person? Post by: tippy on July 07, 2005, 09:12:17 pm "Not a morning person doesn't even begin to describe it" I have this on a sign behind my desk and is it true, worse yet my boss is a morning person. I'm at my peak from 10pm-1am, whenever one else is a sleep in my house, I'm balancing the checkbook and sewing new curtains for the kitchen if it wasn't for diet pepsi and coffee I wouldn't be able to make it to work in the morning.
Title: Re: Week of May 2nd: Are you a morning person? Post by: boober on August 01, 2005, 03:56:10 pm I have to say that I am neither a morning or night person. To be honest I'd be happier to stay in bed all day!!

Title: Re: Week of May 2nd: Are you a morning person? Post by: misslynn on October 05, 2005, 04:47:57 am I am most definitely not a morning person, I like to stay up late but then have to work early so during the week, I don't get much sleep.
Title: Re: Week of May 2nd: Are you a morning person? Post by: raindance on October 11, 2005, 09:53:05 am With me, it all depends whether it is winter or summer.
In summer I can wake up with the lark and be raring to go. At this time of year, though, with the darker mornings, I am a little less bright-eyed and bushy-tailed in the morning. Best wishes, Raindance |
