decent commute in that I don't get stuck on the motorway free parking casual Friday, with early finish (4 pm) flexitime - even as a long term temp! - and I earn quite a lot as I work evenings too boss likes to tell stories about other work (he's freelance) boss involves me in practically everything, including meetings - he's rubbish with names so I supply those (mindreading required here often!) own office, access to internet reasonable freedom to plan own work routines, alongside regular stuff that has to be done Jackie, Peer Moderator Title: Re: Benefits of the job Post by: laurafmcdermott on June 04, 2009, 12:48:55 pm Flex schedule (4x10)

Great Boss, co-workers and offices Very short commute – only 5 mins in the car No parking to pay for & park right outside the office Lovely river walk at the back of the office which comes in very handy if I have my dog in the car Title: Re: Benefits of the job Post by: rose.winter1980 on June 05, 2009, 12:16:17 pm Great boss
Own office (corner office, if you please) and a lovely building Can work at home if I need to/would like to Good salary High-profile job with excellent status in company Work without supervision (I'm probably "unmanageable" LOL) and simply bags of scope to use own initiative Good terms and conditions: salary (although rumours we might just have cutbacks/caps on salary), vacation, sick leave, family leave etc Nice colleagues (on the whole, sometimes there are the usual little tensions) Winter Rose Laugh long, sing loud and dance when you get the chance Title: Re: Benefits of the job Post by: Katie G on June 05, 2009, 05:33:31 pm Top notch medical/dental benefits (important since I'm diabetic)
Good hours (8:30 - 5, and I don't have to take work home with me) Good bosses (so far) Full tuition remission for undergraduate AND graduate courses Title: Re: Benefits of the job Post by: geminigirl on June 08, 2009, 02:22:42 pm Let’s see now – quite a few, so these are not in any particularly order:
Great boss who is kind, funny, concerned and a star in her own particular field; My boss isn't a clock watcher; My boss and I can have a good laugh together; She’s a sympathetic listener, too; Job satisfaction; (Fairly) Relaxed atmosphere; No pressure (or not much anyway); Pretty high-profile position within the company, with excellent status (who I work for means I get things done when they need doing, not way down the list); Work without supervision, with a boss who trusts my judgement and will always defend me, if necessary (which is rarely!). Free secure parking (right outside my building); Free lunches; Not too bad a drive to work (about 40 minutes); No flexi time but see above re non-clock-watcher; Extremely generous holidays; Reasonable to good salary (with final salary pension); My own (corner!) office; Friendly colleagues (with the occasional troublesome one); Freedom to plan my own work routines, alongside the usual stuff that has to be done; Access to internet; Good hours (9.30-5.30 or whenever I want to start up until 10.30 am and add those hours to end of the day) And, especially given the current climate, a pretty damn’ secure job. |
