1  General Discussion / Sound Off! / Re: Ergonomic Challenge on: May 12, 2015, 04:31:27 am
I do not keep my mouse in a good spot.  It slowly moves way to my right.  I really should put it where it needs to be more often.

At home (like right now) I am TOTALLY bad, my feet don't touch the ground, I could use a better chair, the keyboard can be adjusted to a better height.  Here my mouse is fine, and my monitor is in a good spot.   I tend to sit cross legged like a yoga style because my feet don't touch (desk is too high).
2  General Discussion / Sound Off! / Re: Administrative Professionals are in your company on: March 17, 2015, 06:58:47 am
I have been in companies with 100's (national Bank) to large, but not huge companies with .. my guess 80?  Right now, we have five, and the internet (and DeskDemon) are my support group. (I have one of the 4 other assistants, I conspire with!)

It may be the area you live in.  I feel it is getting to be more mainstream.  It may not be in downtown areas though, but the building I work in has about 30 different companies from small offices to mid size of 100 people companies (no more than 100, that is the biggest).   I know at least 6 of those companies have one to two dogs in their offices.  It must be the area because there is a doggy potty bag dispenser.
4  General Discussion / Admins 4 Admins / Performance Reviews on: February 20, 2015, 04:54:31 am
Has anyone ever had to write their own performance review?  I am not very good at it and having a hard time.  Any advice?
5  General Discussion / Help...Specifically / Re: Typing sound on: February 01, 2015, 11:50:13 pm
My daughter hates the sound of typing.  I had to buy the quietest keyboard, even then she was still annoyed.  This made me think of that! (she is grown up and lives on her own now, I miss the nagging on the keyboard noise)

How about working and linking two documents or formulas that take working with different documents or at least sheets.

Different tables and how to work them, pivot, etc.

Those two come to mind for me.

7  General Discussion / Admins 4 Admins / Sick at work, what do you do? on: December 15, 2014, 06:32:26 am
I am sick and have to go into work.  What would you do?  I will keep low, wash my hands a lot and just be miserable.   How do you get threw the day when you know you have a huge work load and just can't feel up to it.  Any suggestions?
8  General Discussion / Cafe Admin / TV Shows on: December 01, 2014, 04:24:53 am
Does anyone watch Walking Dead?  Mid season finale not good for the Greene family!  I love that show!  I am not a big fan of mid seasons where they make you wait months!  I missed the last three Once Upon a Times, so going to watch all those next Saturday.  My big "mid season.. NOOO not that long" show is Outlander.. not until April!!!!! Anyone else like these shows or have a show they wish didn't have a "mid season finale?"

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone as well!
10  General Discussion / Sound Off! / Re: What are you known for being good at? on: November 09, 2014, 08:34:12 am
It may not help the office, but I am known for always being upbeat, professional and smiling.  I really do think smiles are contagious and even if you fake the smile a bit (smile on bad days) it will be better.  You frown.. those are contagious as well.  which would you rather catch? Think about that!
11  General Discussion / Admins 4 Admins / Re: Must have skills on: November 09, 2014, 08:31:49 am
One must have skill is to know how to listen fast and translate vague conversations into mind reading the bosses actual message!   My boss zooms by, gives vague instructions.  Most of the time, after all the years I have been working for him, I can figure out what he wants.  But.... there are times...

You know, this is the only site that has endured and though not quite as active, IS active and there ARE people to help out.  I wont name other sites that have come and gone, stand alone message boards that have come and gone, it would be nice to have more activity but I thank everyone who IS here and do help out!  I hope to be looking at this board many many years from now!
13  General Discussion / Admins 4 Admins / Teambuilding event on: September 16, 2014, 04:46:41 am
I am planning a teambuilding event and would love some second opinions.  If you had your personal preference, would you want a company lead activity, a location type event such as rafting, cooking, a gaming place, or a "team building company" hosted activity?

What have you enjoyed the most?

People who leave chunks of food in the kitchen sink

People who take the last cup of coffee and dont start a new pot

Always the person who jams the photo copier and walks away.  (Don't they realize I can figure out who did it once I see the jammed paper?)

Co workers that don't water their plants (the poor plants looks so sad)

#1  co workers that expect me to drop everything to do their (many times stupid) request when not asking me when I can get to it, or what my priorities are at that moment.
15  General Discussion / Admins 4 Admins / Tweet about exempt/non exempt on: July 23, 2014, 06:48:17 am
Does anyone actually know what qualifies an assistant as exempt and non exempt in the US?  I am exempt but someone with the same title.. same responsibilities, but  she doesn't report to the CEO is non exempt (I do.)  Who is classified correctly?  By the way, if I look at Office Team's guidelines for pay, I am on at the very very low end of my title, so I don't get "paid" extra being exempt.
