There is much debate about which rooms are the safest, but most pundits agree on these pointers: try to secure a room near the lifts, away from building or refurbishment work, away from emergency exits as someone might try to pry it open (though there’s much debate about this point), on upper floors away from street level, and away from terraces. However, if you want to be able to get out quickly in an emergency, and you enjoy sitting on a terrace, your idea of a perfect room will quite be different! Just ensure you gauge the hotel carefully and make your judgement from that.
