How to Improve Your Typing
You've probably heard this so often before but the only way to improve your typing is to practice, practice and practice some more. Start slowly until you are sure of where the keys are. Once you are confident that you know which keys are which you can then start to speed up.

Correct Posture

It is essential to sit correctly with your feet on the floor and at right angles to your desk. Make sure your wrists do not drop or are arched. This is important when you spend a lot of time typing as slouching will end up giving you a sore back.

Accuracy and Speed

Speed is useless without accuracy. To acquire both of these concentration and constant practice are needed. Once again, start slowly until you have learnt the keys and then practice by speeding up. Test yourself by typing a page within a certain time period. Do this again and again until you can see you are typing more words in less time. However, vary the text that you type so you do not get to used to the same paragraph.

Repetition Practice

Use warming up exercises, drills and alphabetic sentences. Concentrate on what you are doing. Be critical of your own work, analyse the kinds of errors you are making and then do remedial exercises to cure your weaknesses.

Certain keys are more difficult to get to and these are the ones that you should focus on until they become second nature. Practice on all parts of the typewriter until you can use all the keys with speed (shift keys, back space, tab keys etc).
