How to Make a Telephone Call
The image you project of yourself and your company over the phone is very important. Your tone of voice, what you say and how you say it all complements your professionalism.
  • If you are calling on behalf of your boss, write down the details of what you have to ask so that they are close to hand and you can make quick reference to them.
  • Greet the person you are calling first, identify yourself and the organisation from where you are calling and ask for whom you wish to speak to.
  • When the other person is on the line, introduce yourself again and tell him/her why you are calling.
  • If you must transfer the call to your boss, do so without delay. It is very rude to make someone wait whom you called in the first place.
  • If the person you require is not available, leave a message or find out when he/she will be back so you can ring him/her again.
