Chester Grovenor Hotel goes green

The Chester Grosvenor is going green after switching to a 100% environmentally-friendly electricity supplier.

The luxury hotel now gets all its electricity from renewable sources, such as wind, tide and biomass power stations after working with Chester-based energy brokers Power Solutions.

The switch makes The Chester Grosvenor a green energy pioneer for the hospitality industry.

Fiona McBurnie, The Chester Grosvenor finance director, said: “We’re very proud that our electricity is from 100% green sources. It allows us to reduce our carbon footprint and do our bit for the environment.

“By using Power Solutions in making the switch we were also able to support another Chester company which is another plus point.”

According to the Renewable Energy Association only 2% of UK energy is produced from green sources so by committing to 100% renewable electricity The Chester Grosvenor is directly supporting the research and development of alternative resources to fossil fuels.

Jeremy Taylor, Power Solutions’ Managing Director, said: “We are thrilled to have assisted The Chester Grosvenor with their ongoing efforts to become a greener business.

“The hotel has recognised that not only is a switch to sustainable energy good for the environment, it is also good for business in terms of reputation, new customers and a blooming green-tourism sector.”
