Did you accomplish any personal or professional goals you had hoped to achieve in 2011? If so, here is a place to pat yourself on the back and go, I did it!

Looking back at what I wanted to accomplish in 2011 I find I didn't accomplish most of what I wanted. Economy, just bad luck, a company that is struggling. It just didn't add up. For 2012 I may try more "attainable" goals. Ones that are controlled 100% by me at least. It is hard to look at what you wanted to accomplish, and feel you have failed. I hope others had better luck then me this year.

Although I got many things accomplished, I didn't get all of them done. I'm debating about pushing a few through before year end strikes.

when it was made clear that my employers were not going to fund any training/developement in 2011 I embarked on an Open University degree course and have managed to pass enough modules to obtain a certificate in business studies so that was one goal achieved! some of my other goals fell by the wayside however!

The Open University was set up as a way for people who had been unable to go to full time university. You can study for a degree in your own time (so that you are still working) and graduate the same as a 'normal' university student. I think they run weekend seminars etc, depending on what's being studied. A lot of older people have done degrees in this way and it's a great idea - needs self discipline though.
