I have done computer tutoring as a second job and taught classes at the Park District. This has the advantage of ensuring my skills stay up to date and it's a good marketing line on my resume that I teach. In addition, it gives me the additional advantage of tax deductions for some of my expenses (like the replacement of a computer).
I make good money this way (I charge $35-50 an hour) and can set my own hours, within reason. I wouldn't want to work retail or somewhere that I only get $8-10 an hour.
