My thought is if you don't like to reading for pleasure than the formatt won't make a difference. However maybe your down time activities have changed and you might enjoy reading more. Is there anyone you could borrow one from for a weekend to try before you buy. It's not the same but you can read books on computers also, possible test format.
I still read paperbacks as well as iPad books but then I've been a reader almost from the time I found books. The parents would take my brother and I to the library weekly. I would take a box to carry the books home.
