Compnay charity

Does your company have an employee sponsored (read funded) charity?
Mine does and it has been a multiple blessing to many employees (we have over 15k employees in the US). We have fund raisers and payroll deduction. A committee meets to decide which employees will be given assistance, could be medical expenses, utilites, or natural disasters. I've read some of the thank you letters they can be heart wrenching.
I hope never to have to ask for help, and like to be able to donate time or baked goods to the charity.

Not so much employee funded but there is a scheme for offering support if an area is suffering a disaster such as the recent Hurricane Sandy. My firm offers to match pound for pound any voluntary donations by the staff and it is usually very well subscribed to.
I do, however, think it's a really good idea to have a staff hardship fund or similar because people can suffer extra harship even when they are in full time employment.
