Mistake

Is there a word / a phrase in English that you would use in a not so serious way to say that there was a mistake? e.g. when you have to send a file a second time as the first time it contained errors. Is there a something like a "error devil" or a "mistake demon" or so, who "strikes again"?

I think it depends on who the audience is. At a previous company we'd say something like 'apologies for the SNAFU, please find the new document attached' (SNAFU standing for 'Situation Normal All F***** Up'). However, in politer company something like 'the gremlins were at work with the last document ...' would be more suitable.
However, I'm sure you'll get some better suggestions than these.

I just say "oops - disregard the previous document, this one is the correct version".

I think you mean a Gremlin.
I always say it's a "keying error" - it implies that I know what the correct version should be and it was an accident that something incorrect got through. I like it better that anything that implies ignorance.

I use the Latin phrase "mea culpa" but only if the mistake was my fault. Thank goodness, I don't use it much!
