Rain drives co workers away!

We had our first storm of the winter and the office is like a ghost town!  It was a normal sized storm!  I wonder if it just  that working from home is getting more and more accepted within the office.   As an "admin" do you feel you would be able to telecommute a day or so and work from home or do you think you should be there (answer phones, gatekeep.. )  I would love to telecommute 1 or 2 days a week.  Makes me ponder..... could I?

I could easily, especially on days when boss is traveling and not in the office.  I was stranded at home for a week due to bad weather last winter and actually was more productive at home than in the office dealing interruptions all day.

I have been able to do that in prior jobs. Can't do it on my current job, though I would love to...

As an admin, my computer at work is not set up for me to be able to "remote in" from home.  It was in my previous job, but the rules are different here. 

I must admit it peeves me a bit.  A manager can wake up to a 7" snowfall, or an ice storm, or bad flooding like we've had this year and decide to work from home.  An admin wakes up to the same conditions and has to decide if its worth the risk to try to come in, or use a vacation day to cover staying home.  Fortunately, my own department turns a blind eye to the rules on days like that , but other departments here can be terribly draconian towards their admins.
