Does Your Company Value Your CPS?

I'm wondering how many people with CPS's

I hit "enter" and before I knew it -- it was a topic...



Anyway, my question is -- I'm wondering if your workplaces generally value the CPS rating -- or don't seem to know what it is.  



If they value it, how do they let you know that they do?



As I've mentioned here before, the HR people in my company don't know what a CPS is (and this is a nationally known corporation).  I'm wondering -- if THEY don't know what it is, how many others don't?

My HR department doesn't even know what a CPS is - so it doesn't seem to be worth my effort to get one, especially considering I'll be here for at least the next 11 years (college tuition benefit).

My company (nationwide also) didn't know about the CPS either.



After letting HR review all the data I collected regarding the CPS.  They agreed to reimbursement of the materials to take the test, but not the test itself and then only after I have my certification.  My boss has just graciously offered to front me the money to get the materials!!  Now I just need to find the time to begin studying and the courage to take the test.

That's great that your company will cover the financial cost for you.  I took the CPS exam in November.  



My boss knows what it is (because she asked about the giant Management book sitting on my desk for lunchtime reading), but the company doesn't have any idea.  They also are a large nationwide company.  



I didn't receive any extra $$, but I did it solely for the self-satisfaction of seeing if I could do it.  I learned quite a bit and that in itself is a big benefit.



Between working full-time, taking care of my home and family and battling a chronic illness, I was a little short on time myself, so I understand.  I found studying time by getting up 1/2 hour earlier 3 days a week (at 4 instead of 4:30), passed on TV most nights and took a 1/2 hour there and took lunchtime once in a while as well.  I studied for about 6 months, but not every single day - I had to give myself a little time off from it.  It was a LOT of reading, but it was very worth it to me.
