Question for folks in on hiring

Ok.. if you have helped "pare down" selection lists, or just have experience with the hiring procedure this question is for you. When looking at educational experience do you give someone with a Business degree more weight or someone with a Resource Management degree, or does it even matter?
Better yet, in general (open to anyone) what is the benefits of getting a Business Management degree vs a Resource Management degree? Curious because I was going for my Business Management degree (thought it would be more marketable) but when I moved my counselor (new college) recommended I get a Resource Management degree. And since it's only a difference of something like 3 elective Business classes (3 more for the Business degree) hubby suggested I get the Resource Management degree too. Said everyone is wanting to hire someone with Resource management skills and shows specialization over generic Business management degree. What do you all think?

I think you need to get the one you're most interested in. You can always add a class or two later!

Re: marketability.
It has more to do than just with the degree, darlin'!
It's your entire package: interpersonal skills, education, technical skills, problem-solving, appearance (whether we like it or not), demeanor, etc.

Oh I definitely understand that being marketable is more than the degree, but I was wondering if one or the other was more in need or seen as more usable in and of itself, before the rest of the package was figured in (and possibly changed that outcome).

I guess it just depends on the position you're applying for and on the individual philosophy of the person doing the hiring. A veritable crap shoot, if you ask me, CG! That's why I suggest going for what you are most interested in.
