In celebration of the forthcoming APW/OPW, we would like to hear from you and tell us why Admins/PAs are brilliant. It's shameless self-congratulation, but there's a time and a place for everything!

My boss would over schedule himself if  I didnt watch his calednar dilgently.  We are brilliant at keeping our bosses schedule organized!

This may sound like I am being silly or trying to make fun of this, but in reality is true.   We are brilliant because we know how to unjam the photo copiers, fax machines and printers without calling IT and waiting a day for someone to come fix it.

We get them from point A to point B and back to point A effortlessly.
We keep them on time and productive by "nudging" them throughout the day.
We keep them organized and on top of everything:)
We are the do-ers.

We make them look good, after all, how we handle ourselves, always professional, is a reflection on them.

We set the tone for the office, their teams.  We make their work day.

Would you agree?

If our bosses would let us be a PA and do our job, not interfere, keeps us informed etc, our daily working lives would be so much easier!!

If you don't have a requirement for a PA, don't hire one!

We ARE the backbone of the organization.  We keep the paperwork flowing, and let's face it, the world revolves around paperwork.  We know all of the little day-to-day, nitty-gritty details that are needed to keep the work moving.

HAHAHAHA...this is so true.  My old boss would double and triple book appointments sometimes.  Before I finally convinced him to get a blackberry, there was a sacrosanct rule that he could not schedule a meeting...ever!  He had to call me or have the person call me to make the appointment to keep him from screwing up the calendar.

And that is a key attribute of a good assistant.  They aren't afraid to tell the boss the way things need to be.  Nicely and with due respect, but without flinching or backing down.

Someone here recently referred to me as "the pulse of the company".  As well as knowing their own job top-to-bottom, a good admin knows a little about everything that goes on in the company.  

I know I'm doing my job when staff won't even hang a poster without my permission!
