We all need a break once in awhile from work. Does anyone have a fun vacation or holiday planned this summer?

Having recently moved into our new house only a year and a half ago, I tend to enjoy spending time there and in the pool in the Summer as much as possible. For fun, I love my gardens, and I am trying to grow Giant Pumpkins this year. I've already had a near-miss, with a bunny rabbit in my patch this year. YIKES! He must have jumped over the fence. It only goes to my knees.
We've done the road trip, the camping and all that so for a change of pace, I would rather spend some quailty time at home with hubby and his mother while she's still with us.
For another fun event though, we'll be taking my 4 almost 5 year old nephew to the Fair again this year. It's always fun going with his Grandma and Grandpa, my folks. We take him on youth day, which is when he's normally scheduled with his Dad. Right now, he can get in for free, just has to pay for the rides. Which isn't too bad. Lookin forward to it.

We are taking a short trip to my cousin's for a long weekend next weekend, and I'm looking forward to that as we always have a good time with her. It's not during the summer, but we are taking 10 days to go to our high school reunion in October, and we will visit other friends and relatives while we are in the area. I am really excited about that trip and we have a long list of things we want to do during that time.

I'm headed out to the IAAP convention in Reno next month. I'll be leading a panel discussion as well as a brainstorming chat for the chapters, so it should be very interesting.
Other than that, hubby and I are doing a lot of small things - going to the rennaissance faire, concerts in the park, etc. this summer. Our money went to put in a patio this spring, so local cheap trips will be the way to go this summer.

Bah! The big course I administer is always in late July into August (it has to coincide with American academic holidays), so no way. However, we don't have children, so aren't tied to school holidays ourselves. This year, we're just taking a week to chill at the end of August, having had some time away earlier in the year - in Newcastle of all places!

I'm house sitting for a friend at the end of August, so I get a free holiday in London. It's not quite the south of France, but it's a change of scenery and it's a REALLY nice house!
My main holiday this year is at the beginning of December when I'm off to New York and Boston for some pre-Christmas shopping. Can't wait!

We're off to Cornwall which I'm really looking forward to - if the weather stays as glorious as it has been recently in the UK then I'll be a happy bunny - bring on those cream teas

I think my 3 weeks of training in St.Petersburg was my "holiday". I had a blast and came back relaxed and energized, so it did the same as a vacation, with the unwelcome reality of going to class every weekday. But the instructors even made that as fun as possible, so no complaints.
Hubby and I will hope to get an evening away from the kids to go to Atlanta and have an adult night later this summer, just to reconnect as a couple. Otherwise everything will be same 'ol, same ol'.

I had my holiday in March when I went to Borneo - seems ages ago now!
Hope to manage a long weekend somewhere in Scotland soon - either sailing or just going away to recharge batteries.

We're going to Florida for 3 weeks in December, which still seems so far away at the moment.
I don't know who's looking forward to it more, me or my 5 year old daughter!

I'm taking the whole of next week off - not going away but out on day trips, seeing friends I've not seen for a while and the end of the week up to London for shopping with my sister - heaven!
Then I'm off to Cornwall with friends for a long weekend in September, which will be fun - great company, great scenery, great restaurants & lots of wine!
And probably taking a week in August (maybe going away, if I can afford it) to use up the rest of my leave (leave year ends at the end of September)...
Can't wait for next week - I've had the odd day off here and there but nothing, other than that, since the beginning of the year and I am sooooooo tired!
