On time when I had a performance review, I took my to do list for the past 6 months and categorized and listed every little project. It was a very long list and my boss looked at me strange at first but then realized he didn't really know what I did each day, except for what he gave me. It was a real eye opener.

I use a mixture but the one that really helps is still my paper list I make daily. Writing it down just helps, I keep it to the side of me so it is always there, always reminding me what i have to do. I use Outlook tasks for bigger to dos and taskes, but for the most part I use a paper list.

I think the underlying point is more this person doesn't feel respected which is not a good situation. We all have our duties but I am thinking she doesn't valued. Everyone here cleans the fridge, I do keep up the toners and yes un jam the copier when requested. But I know my boss values my opinion and thinks of me as part of her team not "just" someone who helps keep the office running smoothly. I know it is our "sales" staff who keeps the company afloat, I too have been told, if it weren't for them we wouldn't be here but at least I know I am valued in my own role.

I agree that they can wait a bit longer in between up dates. BUT looking at the videos there are parts I really like. Outlook and Powerpoint are the two program I use the most and both have enticing upgrades. I am not sure when they plan to release 2010, but would talk to my boss about upgrading. I wonder how well it works with previous versions of Microsoft Office. I hope they take downward compatability into consideration. That would be the biggest obstacle in upgrading.
