1  General Discussion / Admins 4 Admins / Re: Team Building Day on: April 22, 2013, 07:39:20 pm
Hi OfficePA

Sorry its taken so long to get back to you - been a busy  few years!  With regards to the goodie bags they were fun things.

As it was FA Cup year..... I went to Morrisons and bought their fun prty stuff as they had princess bags and football boy bags and I just bought say 60 of bounc balls, whistles, tiaras, fairy wands etc whatever they had which in all came to about £30 for the whole lot as each item of say 12 balls or wands to a bag would say cost no more than £2 so was really cheap.

Then I took the items to work, sat in a room and distributed and sorted the items between boys and girls.... and then when the day came, at the end of the day before everyone went home I announced that to make the day complete there was a fun goody bag they could take home either for them if they were a big kid like me  Tongue or take home to their kids... and everyone loved them!

Just something simple is all it takes...

Hi Cathy

Well I organised my Team Awayday which was last week and we went to The Coppid Beech Hotel in Bracknell and had a meeting in the morning then the afternoon after lunch I organised a team building event called Quest for Best through KDM Events in the field in the afternoon and it was fantastic!  Everyone enjoyed it, not too expensive and I provided some goody bags afterwards as well......hope that helps.

Hi ya

I am on HRT as had a total hysterectomy 8 years ago and immediately was put on Premarin 1.25mg.

For me its the best thing, a few times i have forgotten to take the tablet and it has got me later in the day at work, hot sweats, flushes etc which is a bit embarrassing when you are at work and all you want to do is strip off....lol

Anyway, i have been told i have to be on it for at least until my late 60s.  I am 38 now so i have to be careful with reference to Breast Cancer as I had a scare last year and had to have a mammogram etc and have to go back again in September for the same again just to make sure.

Each person is individual when they take HRT as it effects you in different ways.

There are a lot of scare stories but i feel that they are no more than scaremongering and you are the only person who can decide whether you go on HRT or continue to take it.  Me, myself i know the risks and am happy to continue to take mine as it makes me feel calmer and happier in myself.

Hope the above helps and good luck.
Love lynnk xx

Hi all

long time since i have posted and not good news!

Well i work for three direcotrs and on Friday one of them said he wanted a talk with me, at about 3.30pm so I sat down and he said, as you know the business is changing and as my role has changed and therefore they had discussed it between the three of them and decided that they thought it best to offer me redundancy!  i was absolutely gobsmacked!

Apparently they would offer me a substantial redundancy package - hmm believe it when i see it and one of the bosses was going to employ a professional who could help him as i couldnt (cheeky!) and here is the good part, the other boss wanted to employ an assistant who could do banking and finance as they felt i couldnt and they would get a receptionist in to answer the phones and do the filing!

So there you have it!  I am still in shock!  7 years i have given them and they dismiss me!

The thing is one of the directors wasnt in all day which i thought strange and then he came in at 5.20pm just to have a drink of water!

Anway he said to me that hei believed that the other boss had spoken to me and I said yes and that I was very sad, surprised and disappointed.  I asked what had i done and I didnt want to go but if all of you were hell bent in getting rid of me then what could i do!  You should have seen his face!  tee hee.....

so anyway, thats the story, nothing i can do because they said if i wanted to stay on as a receptionist and take a substantial pay cut then that was up to me but he thought that i wouldnt want to do that.

So other boss back on Monday and I dont know what he is going to say but if the offer is not subtantial as been promised then i will be making a fuss and stamping my feet!  lol...... he mentioned that the payout would mean that I could take my time on deciding what i wanted to do so i dont know what to think!

Thing is it could be end of August or end of September but I have now applied for loads of jobs since Friday so something may come up and I am not being discreet either!  I tell you the filing has taken a back seat.... tee heeee.

Anyway, ill be in touch and let you know the next stage but if anyone has any thoughts on what i should do etc please let me know.

regards

lynnk

Ok here is the update on the update of the update!  lol

I didnt win or come close to being a runner up so fairly disappointed!  The evening was a bit of a let down as they had already put the names in the brochure of who had got through without letting us other finalists know!! I am still waiting for my letter - lol!!!!  A couple on my table said that it was poorly managed and they were going to complain so I'll let you know.

Thanks all for your wishes and heres to Christmas!!  tee hee.....

Hi all

Havent posted for a while so thought I would just update anyone who was interested on what has been happening to me since November last year.

In November, in a surprise nomination from my bosses, I won Executive PA of the Year 2003 held by IIR Conferences and this year I will be at the IIR Conference giving my first speech so please ask your bosses to let you come then you can see how good, or not, I am! 8-)- any feed back would be welcome.

Also I am through to the first round of finalists for the Executive PA of the Year Award 2004 held by Executive PA magazine on 30th September - wish me luck!!

Hope to see you either at the conference or at the Awards Dinner - please email me if you are going to be at either and I would love to meet up with you whilst there!

Take care and best wishes

Hi

I work for a Jewish company so obviously they do not send xmas cards out as they do not celebrate xmas and for me it is a relief as for the past 20 years I have had to send xmas cards out and it is such a chore to get the correct addresses from all the bossies........bliss for me! 8-)

11  General Discussion / Admins 4 Admins / Brainstorming Meeting with bosses on: July 19, 2003, 11:49:04 am
Hi

My bosses had a meeting yesterday afternoon and then one of the bosses said to me that that they had discussed the way the admin structure is run in the office i.e., me! and were going to have a "brainstorming" session next week with me to discuss ideas and new ways of doing things - question I would like to pose to other PA's at director level is because I do everything and dream up all the little things they want doing etc - how have you or do you approach this meeting?  Should I go in with a list of ideas as long as my arm and not relent or shall I just listen first and then put "my fourpence worth" in?

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated  - thanks.

Well I had the same problem after I "inherited" an extra director as well!!!

Being the only PA there we seemed to expanded pretty quickly so I said to the other two directors (now have 3) that I needed some help, esp with the filingm so I advertised for a PT Assistant and since she has been with me over the past 4 weeks I have not had to do any filing!! She is quite able and has lifted the pressure off me considerably so my suggestion is get someone in to help - it will be worth it in the long run.

Bfn
