Just an FYI to all...those acrylic stands can be purchased almost anywhere, they're pretty common picture frames. But a good place to find any ot that stuff is Paper Direct, www.paperdirect.com. They sell the acrylic stands (both photo and landscape) and all manor of papers, cards and flyers to personalize with. I still use mine for all kinds of things...definately one of the best investmenst I had our company make. Daisylee (pokin' in her weary head!)

General Discussion / Admins 4 Admins / It's Administrative Professional's Day!

And since I'm no longer a true "admin", I'm feeling a little left out! For the first time in 10 years, there are no flowers, lunches, all the fun signs of appreciation we get. I realize it's nice to be appreciated all year long...but that one special week was always something to look forward to! (Of course, my hips will thank me! Those lunches were fattining!)
But I will never forget where I came from, and I just wanted to share my feelings with all of you, and to say thanks for being there when I needed you all! A very happy Administrative Professional's Day to you all, and may every working day be something you relish doing...because you are appreciated!
Take care all, Daisylee

In telephone land...there are many ways to scam and slam. Verizon might be the long distance provider, but AT&T is the line service. It works that way all the time. (That's why you can call a local number and get though, but if you call long dis-tance, you get a "fast busy"...that means the outbound trunks are busy!) There are really only a few companies that maintain the local lines, and the LDCs use the trunks to "transfer" calls. The 91 and 99 and what you use to ping a PBX, and go out over the lines. Thus allowing you to be transfered to any other number you want. In any case, never transfer any of these calls, and report it to the local phone service and your long distance carrier, so they can look out for fraud phone charges. Daisylee, former fraud investigator and Phone Goddess... OOPS caught Michelle's post...reverse that order AT& T long dis...Verizon, local! Edited by daisylee on 07/03/02 03:17 PM.

The economics of our country has a lot to do with who is seated in government. But there are just way to many factors besides that make things happen the way they do. I think the incumbent government just tends to determine the rate at which it happens, and to what specific ends. And as you go back through history, you will see there are always cycles of economic growth, then slow down. It's natural. Kind of like a snake has to shed it's skin to grow again. You can't have one without the other. We've been through worse, remember a thing call the depression? And for those of us who were old enough in the '70's to TRY to find a job...well, it appears we've come full circle. Who I wanted for President has no bearing on what's what now. I know that if I don't think it's good, I can try to change that in a couple more years. Good government is the responsiblity of us all! And to answer the question, I think the President said all the right things, and focused on what Americans wanted to know. Now, if these changes come to fruition, it would be wonderful! We shall see!

Hi Ellen,
As an admin, I've gotten lots of gifts for being the "person we couldn't have gotten this done without!" Some of the things I've been given: Flowers, a crystal candle holder, scented candles, picture frames, a lovely gift basket from H2O(Mango scented bath products!) And I in turn, have given some little thank-you gifts in turn for the admins that I have helping me in one of my duties: Holiday pin for their coat, a silk neckerchief, and decorative room scents/potpourri. All the gifts I ever got were simply wonderful, and the ones I've given were thought to be very special.
It's hard when you really don't know the person, but if it's not expected, I really don't think it matters much what it is, as much as they got it in the first place!!!!! I really think it's nice of all of you to be sure this person is honored in a special way!
Daisylee (it's just always really nice to be remembered and thanked for a job well done, no matter what it is!)

Oh, yes....the spewing of tape...something like Linda Blair and the pea-soup in the Excorist! And I still have my turn-table. But I had to go on a major man (as it were)hunt to find a belt for it! I still have my original copy of "Jesus Christ, Superstar" on vinyl...and finally broke down and replaced it with the ORIGINAL cast CD remaster! Cost me $32.00! It's an expensive hobby, trying to replace those old albums! (if they indeed have even been re-mastered!) Still trying to find Traffic's album...the one with "Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys" a particular favorite of my SO. He had that one on both 8 track and vinyl...and both are long gone!
But I'll tell ya, you don't have to go to far to see the clothes of the 70's...I've seen my 11 year old niece wearing things that could have come out of my closet 25 years ago!
Oh, now I'm gonna start waxing nostalgic...but thanks for the memories!

Hey, we children of the 70's are "Stayin' Alive" out here, Lems! Just can't shake the groove thing as well as I once was able!
(Ah, to have known music before MTV and CD's!....give me my old 8 track and vinyl!)

Having several freinds that have worked both at AA and Andersen Consulting (which broke off from AA to form another company, does this tell you anything?)..I really don't see this as the "end" for AA, but it will be the beginning of a very, very long uphill battle to regain confidence and marketshare. After all, you can't be known as "the Firm", and not retain some clout. But Enron...well, that's just another in a very long line of business failures, both on the large and small scale. And it probably won't be the last! You just have to be mindful of the baskets your eggs are in at all times. But I really do feel for those people that will loose any gains they may have made. I hope there is some recourse for them.
Which brings me to another point....in most mutual funds, (and 401K's) you always have the option of opening a money market acount within the fund, and move your money into it so you don't loose it when the market becomes voliatle. You would be earning much less...but EARNING nonetheless. Then when the market picks back up, you can start to "re-buy" shares in the mutual fund again. I was lucky enough to have done this when we rolled over from my old company to the new. I haven't lost a cent! (Let's call it a very happy accident!) And as the old saying goes, no one will take care of you as well as you can! And folks, I say this to you with nothing but your financial well-being at heart!
Here's a toast to a speedy financial recovery to all of us...and the companies we all work for!

Well, at least you tried....and believe it or not, I knew what you meant! (hey grammar is hard enough with the language we use every day, let alone the one I last studied in 1975!)
Like I said, I can read it, and understand some, I can try to write it, but it's most likely wrong, and if I try to speak it, well, I'm sure anyone from France would crack up! (But I still know how to roll those r's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
And,as they say in France ,"C'est la vie!"

Writing in French is tres difficult...I really can remember my "passe composite" (oh, I'm just so sure that's right! NOT!!!)...mon, ma, mes....
You know, this has sparked the need to get some "language tapes" and pratice!
(Then we move to Italian!....)
