MsMarieH -
Company just went international, but we have our "side" of the corporate offices in the town I work from. The "other side" is in Canada--not willing to go that far right now.
My youngest (15 1/2) is in a decent high school, really good friend base--all good kids, not troublemakers; making good grades. I can't move her again. Have moved 3 times in the last 3 yrs.--most recently in Feb. because of a flood buyout.
My company doesn't give a lot of credit for experience--only on education. We already have a Web Master and all computer training is handled by the local Community Colleges.
I'm trying to figure out how to make VA work for me, still have a lot of answers to get. I am an execellent Events Planner--can party-plan for 130 with less than 2 hours notice.

I have considered it. My personality is such that I enjoy mentally "bouncing off the walls" which is why Admin work suits me so well.
I'm trying to narrow it down to the pieces that fit both my creativity requirements and my personality. I'm also
e x t r e m e l y responsible--so making a good fit for myself AND the people I work with is important to me.
The 1st Interest Survey I took (in college) narrowed the field to 288 interests. The 2nd (a few years ago) has narrowed it to 81. That's part of the problem. Computers have been the only "link" to the majority of the fields.
I haven't heard of a "Presentation Specialist", but I do enjoy putting together presentations very much.

I need your help. Recently, my job has been eliminated, but I still work for the company in another capacity. I'm bored out of my mind!!! (It now takes 8 people to do the job I used to do--talk about cost effective?!)
I wanted to stay with the company--finding out that might not be possible as an Admin. Hate the new job, can do all of my work in under an hour. My Team Leader is wonderful--former Admin and understands my frustration. My current work isn't suffering because of my boredom.
It boils down to this: Where would an experienced Admin, with above average computer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills find a job that's not at entry level? I've tried monster.com, hotjobs.com, newspapers. I'm close enough to a Major city for them to look at my skills, but finding they want someone "local".
Sorry for the long post. I desperately need ideas--can anyone help?

My apologies everyone. I've been "out of the loop" for the last few days. Everyone should have the information in their respective e-mails by now. Hope that this will work for you.
I felt that the "supervison and training of subordinate staff" was a bit antiquated--especially in my old job. There was NO ONE for me to supervise...and never would be, because of the nature of the location that I supported.

Good Morning -
I've sent the information to both of the addresses in the posting.
I forgot to inform you that I saved it in Word 97-2000 format so that you should be able to open it. I have Word 2000 here at work, but that doesn't mean everyone else does.
Let me know if you have any problems with it.
Enjoy!

Jahdra -
I completed an Admin Job Title comparison some time ago and I think it will suit your needs. It's a couple of years old, but with a little "tweaking" it should work for you.
Give me an address and I'll e-mail it to you.

General Discussion / Admins 4 Admins / Re: What's the oddest interview question you've been asked?

Went into a interview for a Temp Sec position (for a Bank President). His ONLY question was "How soon can you start?" That was at 4:30 p.m. on a rainy (cats and dogs)Wednesday.
My reply was "Point me to a chair and I'm yours." I stayed until 6:30 p.m. that day. I stayed until my temp status ran out (his Sec came back from maternity leave) and then he asked me to take on the Bank VP & the Branch Manager. Stayed there until I moved out of town 14 months later.
It was the only time I've ever been a "minority". Interesting experience.

Sorry to hear about all of this stress--this should be a great time for you.
I have an aunt that works as a Consumer Credit Counselor. She would (definitely) require you to cut up your credit cards--you should see her office bulletin boards!!!
I don't know who counseled you about that service--but they are wrong. I work in the Finance Industry, and while it (Credit Counseling) isn't the best option from a finance person's eyes--it's better than Bankrupty!!! It will help you manage this crisis (and any future crisies--sp?). I can tell you that your creditors would much rather work with you--than receive a Bankruptcy Notice.
In the older novels, they used to have a term "apopletic fit". I could never really visualize (understand) the term. Until I watched a Bank VP "have one" after he received a Bankruptcy Notice on a customer--and the customer never said a word to him about being "in trouble". It wasn't "pretty".
