I am in the US.  I work 8 to 5 with an hour lunch.  I work from home 2 Fridays a month and have been able to keep the "set 8-5" time when I am at home as well.   

I am just wondering if there are any "green"  people who actually do try to make a difference?  I have not been the best, but for some reason I am hyped and want to do small things that hopefully will help.    I am going to recycle more.  I always have recycled but not diligently, going to change my light bulbs.  Not throw away my toner cartridges for being lazy and actually recycle them.    I hope the little things really can add up.

This may sound like I am being silly or trying to make fun of this, but in reality is true.   We are brilliant because we know how to unjam the photo copiers, fax machines and printers without calling IT and waiting a day for someone to come fix it.

I don't hate the day because it is nice to be appreciated, but wish it would be taken off the calendar at least for me.    I guess it is nice to be noticed for the good job we all do, but shouldn't we be noticed all year?   Why do we get a gift once a year, but the accounts don't?  Do we need National Accountants Day?  (they may have that I dunno!)  I wonder if companies or assistants that get that beautiful bouquet of flowers, the gift spa treatment,etc think of the office help that get .. maybe a pat on the back or nothing at all? For those assistants that do get something nice, now feel guilty and bad for those who don't.  It can bring up hard feelings.  Ok I am venting some pent up feelings on this day so will end this post with, I really wish if companies do "celebrate the day" they think of all the support staff regardless of title and "rank" in company.

Accountability on what I do is accurate, on time, and if there is a problem I own up to it and  correct it.  I work on my own much of the time and do not have someone to double check my work.

What timing!  I refresh and see this post.  I have a meeting with my boss and an HR rep this afternoon to talk about this very subject.   I am actually looking for both, my duties to reflect a better title and I figure it can't hurt to ask for a small raise.   In the end it is the title I want to reflect my duties.  

I had a job I hated, but when my boss left I was able to build a great working partnership with the new manager.   I know because my boss was so unhappy, it seeped to me and made me unhappy.   The tone around you can totally affect everyone.  I am happy to say an upbeat and just really nice person took his place and the job became one of the best I had.  I left to find a better paying job and miss how that job turned out.  

Overall neatness in the way someone dresses.   I look to see if clothes are ironed, matches, and doesn't look outdated.  To be frank, I look to see if I look better than they do.
