1  General Discussion / Sound Off! / Re: Loyalty on: February 01, 2008, 03:53:50 pm
I would consider myself loyal to my boss.  I work in a large organisation and would not say that I am loyal to that but my boss on the other hand is different.  We have a great relationship and both understand that we have to watch our backs when it comes to others, he is one of lifes god men who wants to get on with his job and earn his money and if he can have a laugh in a friendly environment whilst at work then it makes the day much easier and we have that kind of relationship, I firmly believe that he would not be dis-loyal to me, and has always backed me up when necessary.

We are very honest with each other and he was very supportive when I told him that I am looking for a new position and even agreed that I would not get any where further if I stayed here and that it would be a shame, he in return has told me that he is also looking for another position, both these pieces of information are private and I would not dream of telling anyone and he vice versa, but I wanted to tell him out of respect.

I can not imagine that he would ever asked to to do something unethical and knows me well enough to know that I would not do it.

I feel very fortunate to be in a job where I can be loyal to my boss knowing he would not take advantage of it and is also loyal to me.  It actually saddens me to think that it may all end soon!

Thank you for your post,

I have already started to ask some managers from other places that I have worked if they would be prepared to provide me with a reference and i am just waiting to hear back.

Well tonight will be spent digging out all my certificates etc,  I think I have enough to get strated with and will just add from there.

Thank you for taking the time to post me some advice and I will now go and check out the links that have also been posted.

Thanks again.

Hi Everyone,

I am new and I am wondering if anyone out there could help me.

I am looking for a new job and would like to put together a portfolio to support my CV for when I go and register with agencies and then hopefully at interviews! My question is what, other than my CV, references and certificates, can I put in there?  Would it be ok to put in some examples of my work? (obviously sensitive info taken out) or even produce pieces of work specifically to be used in the portfolio such as the documents and work refered to in my CV? i.e. presentations, reports etc.

I used to put together portfolios for my art work whilst at college but for some reason I can not get my head together for this one.

I do not have many qualifications as I quite literally fell into office work and found that I not only enjoy the work but I am a natural (not blowing my own I still can not believe I'm good at it as I never thought about being a PA) and I have slowly progressed from receptionist to PA.  Now I want to move on and find a job that I can "get my teeth into" but i am finding it hard to get noticed, ideally I would like to work on a 1:1 basis as a private PA or within a company that would allow me to get involved with projects or event management (looking into a course to support this).  I am work hard on my CV so that it stands out but would really like to be able to show case my work to potential employers to support my CV.

Can anyone offer any advice on what i could include or know of any website that could offer advice?

Sorry if this is a bit of a ramble. I look forward to any replies.
