My chapter experience was very poor, the only reason I renewed membership (at large only not chapter) the last year was for a planned conference discount.  The discount was then offered to non members to increase attendance.  I understand why they needed to offer the discount but I really felt it was a slap in the face!  If the conference had not been local it would not have been approved nor been cost effective.
I'm hoping the new "branches" will disband the old guard cliques (and I'm 53!) that made my local chapter so unappealing to me.  I also understand that "old guard" (some of them) put a lot of work and effort into their chapters, creating some unhappy campers.

Conclusion - I'll retain my membership another year (due to company sponsored) to see what happens, and really hoping the expanded training will be viable, affordable and relevant!
