HELP! Travel in the UK

Bossie is going to the UK in a few weeks and I have a couple of questions.  First, how far is Warwick from London?  Second, whats the best way to get to Warwick from London (plane, train, etc.).  He will be attending a conference there and there a very specific schedule he has to adhere to, so it is making it very difficult to make travel reservations for him.

Warwick is between two and three hours from Greater London. London is a big place, so it depends where Bossie is staying because it will take two hours to get from one side to the other. Do you have a hotel address?

The best way for Bossie to travel would either be by taxi to the station, train to Warwick and taxi to the venue, or by chauffered car.  It takes 1 hour 50 minutes from Marylebone station. See Railtrack planner for times of trains.

If you could get us an address of where Bossie is staying we could get some firm names of chauffeur firms for you and maybe some quotes.

And you can prebook train tickets from www.thetrainline.com who is a deskdemon partner.  However they don't post them to the US at this time, so if you'd like to use the DD address for delivery We'd be happy to send them on to you. Let me know by PM if you need us to do that.

Query:  Has bossie ever been here before? Cause there's STUFF he should know if he hasn't.  Like Train delay's where to check for them, taxi queue's etc....

Thanks for the info!  Actually, he will be arriving at Heathrow and then going straight to Warwick.  In Warwick he will stay at the Warwick Meridien.  Yes, bossie has been to the UK many times before, but never to Warwick.  The trip is not for a few more weeks, I just needed to know because the conference organizers want us to book our travel now - so I needed to know how much time he would need to get back to London and book the appropriate flight.  Thanks so much for the offer on the tickets, I'll let you know later if I need to do that (perhaps our travel agent will arrange something).

PS - Chocolate martinis sound wonderful, have a couple for me will ya!

Just a quick question - location of the chocolate martinis?  Its my 3 year review at the end of this month and me bosses take me out to lunch so...... i work in London just off of Oxford Street........ 8-)

From Heathrow to Warwick station will take between 2hrs 15mins and 2hrs 50 mins, depending upon the time of day and engineering works. There will also be one or two changes.

I recommend a car. It's the best way to go and doesn't cost much more.

Yes, its Warwick, Warwickshire.

So does a train leave directly from Heathrow to Warwick or would he have to go to a station somewhere else to catch that train?  

Sorry for all the questions, but it just seems that there are so many option.  In Los Angeles everyone just drives everywhere (no trains, tubes, etc.).  I do appreciate your help, thank you!

No trains to anywhere cept central London from Heathrow, but there is this wonderful thing called the HEX (Heathrow Express) which will take him to Paddington.

Not sure which London station trains for Birmingham/Warwick go from, but murphy's law will surely dictate that it's not Paddington!  So he may have to use the underground at some point which is relatively painless - or he could get a cab!

Okay thanks, that really helps a lot!

I think he will take a cab to which ever train station the Warwick train leaves from (will find out later) and then do the same on his return.  

Now another question, if you don't mind.  Can you recommend a hotel near Heathrow?  Bossie will have to spend one night there before returning to the States.  Doesn't have to be anything really fancy, just clean and close to the airport.
