OK have to add these two stories about copiers and jamming...
In the building I worked in we had two copiers on every wing (four on each floor). I went to the one that wasn't used very often because, well, I knew no one else would be there. Well, I get there, and of course, it's jammed. So I open it up and get on my hands and knees to fix the darn thing. I just finish when another woman walks in. "Oh, is the copier jammed?" I felt like saying, 'Nope, just getting personal with it.' But I told her, "It was, but I fixed it." So I get up, turn around to grab my copy job, when she swoops in and starts to use the copier!!! That is SO against the copier rules! Whoever fixes it gets to use it first! I was about to rip her head off, when she realized it wasn't ready to copy yet. It takes a couple of minutes to warm up after being down so long, and she didn't want to wait, so she walked away. Good thing for her.
And another time... another admin on the other wing was helping someone fix the copier. She had just come in to get a drink from the fridge and saw that someone was trying to fix their jam. So being the good admin she was, she opened the thing up and tried to fix it. She saw that the jam was pretty far in there, so she sat down and stuck her arm in. And promptly got her arm stuck. Try as she might, she could not free herself. She was stuck so bad that not only was the Gordon Flesch company (they lease copiers) called, but the paramedics were too. I think she was stuck for a good hour or so, and had her arm in a sling for a couple of weeks afterwards. She was OK and unhurt (other than her pride).
