I have - this morning for the first time ever.

Alot going on at the moment but the main thing is that my father is poorly in hospital and has been for the last two weeks so the last couple of weekend I have been travellng down to my parents which is 3 hours away from me to basically spending most of the time in hospital visiting Dad which is hard, draining and tiring and the driving is too.  So at the moment I am over tired!

Anyway yesterday I was so tired after work that after sorting the dog I went straight to bed but couldn't sleep so got up and went back to bed about 10pm and eventually got to sleep sometime after 3am this morning.  Next thing I knew it was 8.40am and I was late for work (I start at 8.15!)  Thank goodness I only lie 5 mins from the office so was at my desk for 9am Smiley.    Still can't believe I slept right through my alarms, never done that before!

I've done that before, but since I work 30 minutes (minimum) from work, I was a lot later than you.  Smiley

Remember to cut yourself some slack... your body is going to need rest and will claim it for itself when we don't do it ourselves.  If your brain was racing last night, you couldn't rest, and once it shut down your body took it's down time.  You are under a lot of stress, especially with your father's condition, so it is to be expected.  Realise that if you don't give yourself that time to crash when you can, you may find yourself extremely ill/sick and having to take down time.

I'm hoping that your boss is understanding of your situation and that you had no reprecussions for coming in late.  I'm amazed that you were only 45 minutes late, especially with all that you've been putting yourself through lately.  You should be commended on going ahead and getting in to work and only being 45 minutes late.  I work with a lot of folks who would have just blown off the day after a start like that.

Prayers continuing for your family, and especially your dad.  Be careful on that long drive, and be sure you get as much rest as you can before driving!

Oh... and btw... I was 2 hours late for work this morning myself.  Woke up with a migraine, called bossie and told him I was taking meds and going back to sleep for an hour or two to get it under control before coming in.  So I'm right there with you today!

Coz, see if you can get some flexi, so being late for work isn't really 'late' any more just not when you normally come in.

Hope your dad improves.

Your body is telling you, you needed some rest.  Listen to it.  You have to pace yourself when dealing with matters such as sick family member that requires more from you.  Take a me day and lounge around and relax.  It might help to recharge.

Take care.

Thank you everyone.

My boss was fine Countrigal - he laughed!

Jackie G - flexi time, my boss is quite good and he knows that with all his staff, if we are late in anyway we just make up the time etc.

Peaches - I had a ME weekend - just pottering about doing some jobs and relaxing with friends.  thankfully I am on holiday for a week from this Friday and after spending this next weekend visiting Dad I am looking forward to a week relaxing in Somerset with my twin god children, their parents, two dogs, two guinea pigs .  Smiley  Bliss  Smiley

Thanks again

Sam

PS Dad came out of hospital on Friday evening which is a relief, now he is back home hopefully he will start to rebuild his strength and start to eat properly as over the last two weeks he has not been eating enough for a mouse!!  He still has a long way to go though.
