Oh my goodness, I'm getting some stinkers on this project I'm babysitting!
I have just had an e-mail from one of the speakers (he's in the US). Although the course is mainly in the UK, there is a short trip (2-3 days) planned to a relevant site in France. He's asked my colleague to arrange visas for his wife (US resident, but holding a Central American passport), and his mother in law (Central American passport again).
I'm trying to get through to the French embassy but to no avail; anyone know an e-mail address or good contact point (can't find one on the Web page)? I'm trying to smooth the path for my colleague when she returns!
Many thanks.

Correct me if I am wrong - but shouldn't they apply for visas in the country of permanent residence rather than apply in the country they are visiting to visit another country?

Thanks Charity - you are right. After I sent my message I had a brainwave and spoke to the consular services agency I used to use occasionally in another job. I have advised the person accordingly, and await further instructions ......
