That's it, we had hailstones tonight which lay where I was, so much so that my car SKIDDED, yes SKIDDED on them - I was doing about 5 mph at the time so came to a slithering halt at the pavement by the roadside, but it did surprise me!

And oh, it's so cold now - and the temp is still above 0!  For those of you who don't know, here in Edinburgh we have a very cold, damp wind which goes right through your bones, not like any kind of cold dry winds elsewhere in the world!

Jackie,

Glad your ok.  We had hail storms a couple of weeks ago and they came out of no where.  Just like the thunderstorm we had this morning.  Lost power briefly it was so strong and got me out of bed.  I turned the radio on and they said severe thunderstorm watch til 6:30 am and they said gee its only 6:27am as soon as they said that BAM!  Thunder like it was out in our back yard loud!  Nasty for about 5-10 minutes and then it was just rain.

Due to get possible snow showers this week; blah!  That's one thing I don't like about Fall.  I love the warm summerish days when its in the 70's and nice and sunny and  calm with no humidity, however, those days are far and few between and with the end of October near, I'm sure it's only going to get worse.  Hope my car makes it through another Winter.

I just hope that this cold spell will kill off all the cold bugs that seem to be doing the rounds.  I still haven't properly shaken the cold I've had for nearly a month now - it never got so bad I had to stay in bed, but it's left me feeling thoroughly run down and miserable.  Loads of people here seem to be suffering in the same way, so it's not just me.

Peana

I swear by echinacea - either liquid (horrible, don't put in anything, just drink neat but follow it down with something to take the taste away) - or tablets - usually with liquorice flavouring, nice.

Two ways to take it too:  either daily OR at the start of something, double dose for a couple of days to get max levels into your system and then continue with normal dose (ie 15 drops is normal dose, 30 would be double dose) until symptoms go.

Works for me

I've heard of that before - I guess I'll be heading out to get some in my lunch hour.  Thanks.

Peana

Echinacea's not cheap but that well known high street chemists (that you can also wear on your feet!) is selling 3 for 2 at the moment on herbal stuff so it's worth stocking up!
