In your work place would you say that you "get respect" from your superiors? Are you addressed in a professional manner? Is credit given to you when you perform well on a project or are you simply part of the wallpaper, stepping out of the shadows only when necessary or when called upon.  Whether your answer is positive or negative tell us how it feels to be respected, or what you do in situations where you don't feel the respect levels are optimal...

Do Tell,
Andrea

This is a difficult one because on one hand I can say yes yet on another, no.

Is it respect when people call you from their office and keep calling until you run in?  I had this happen to me previously and hated it - I wanted to ignore my name being called but felt I couldn't suddenly make out I was deaf!

In my current role I am contracting for an IT company and so it's kind of strange. For most of the contractors we are treated as normal however I would say on occasions we are not communicated to about company matters and are left out of certain situations.  I guess that is because we are not permanent employees but you sometimes feel you are neither one thing nor the other.  Even though there are more contractors on this project than permanent staff, you can still feel at times, left out.

On the whole, I would say I am respected but not always included.

I think I am respected though kind of taken for granted at times (aren't we all though?!).

I have been with my company for 12 years and previously worked in the IT department and have also done occasional work in various other departments.  This means that I am fairly knowledgeable about most aspects of our company so people often come to me for assistance.  I do get sick of the sound of my name at times, but at the same time hopefully they respect and value me.

I feel very happy and settled with this company and lucky to be where I am.

All the best,
Nicola.

I support 15 people on-site and one in a different facility.  I'm treated professionally on a daily basis, and appreciate it when people use my name to ask me things.  One fellow, who disrespected everyone, used to start by saying just "Hey,..."  I really hated that.  Thank God he didn't last long in the job.

I think because I've been a shared commodity for so long, people are used to being very polite and thoughtful when they ask for my help.

There are one or two who will comment to me privately about the big projects, but I  miss the days when a big THANK YOU or WELL DONE was brought up in the group meetings, once projects were successfully completed.  People are so busy nowadays with work, they just move on to the next thing with no mention of the recently-completed seminars, etc.

Overall, I feel content with my treatment at this company, and hope to stay here for many years.

I am well respected here.  One of the rare positions that I have held that allows for an assistant to contribute to the growth of the company.
