If you get a new boss, do you unpack their boxes and put their stuff up in their office, or leave it to them to do?  I have blocked time on the schedule for new boss to "settle in" but works right through it.  Has alot of glass stuff and I do not want to take the responsibility if something is broken or gets broken while unpacking.

Had previous assistant pack the old office, sent them an e-mail while traveling and asked her to do it.

Not to compare bosses, but old boss was a gentleman and packed his own boxes and cleaned out is own files a little at a time before he left.

What would you do?

Maybe offer to unpack first then see what answer you get.

That way at least you have offered your help.

I wasn't sure if you had verbally mentioned it or just put a placeholder in the diary.

You've done it, got an answer, that's all you can do for now.

Just be ready for the day you have a thousand things to attend to, and THAT will be the day he wants to unpack and "settle in".   Roll Eyes

At least, that's what happened to me..... Grin

Gee's right.  You've asked, and apparently he doesn't want to be bothered right now.

How right you are.  New boss unpacked the glass / personal stuff.  Then told me the last two heavy boxes were mine, full of old binders from old company, books and junk.  I threw them in the book case today and hid the "junk" in the credenza.
