They closed all the schools in the area today for various reasons, but most businesses are open. My Base doesn't close for much, so I'm at work today. We had lots of rain (over 6 inches) and lots of wind. I'm listening to it howl through the building today; I can only imagine what it might have sounded like yesterday when "Franny" was at her worst.
At home, the only real damage we had (personally) was the flag rope snapped. That's easily fixed and our flags didn't blow away. I had thought about taking them down, but decided that they would be okay. I didn't think about that once they were water soaked they would weigh more and the rope wouldn't be able to handle the extra weight of them in the high winds.
Also, we live in an old pecan orchard. Pecan trees are famous for losing limbs and branches in high winds. The neighborhood is very littered with little stuff and some folks lost some larger limbs on their trees. (Luckily, I don't have any pecan trees in my yard.)
Some folks in town lost power, but we were lucky. Our phones, lights, and cable TV are all still working.
