You all are so right. That is unbelievably annoying. I return calls promptly, or forward them on when the caller indicates his/her need in the message. I confess that during very busy periods I let the no-message "call me"-types wait at the bottom of the pile. They often turn out to be sales calls anyway.
An additional peeve: In-house callers who phone from their cars for other in-house numbers. Like I have nothing else to do but provide directory assistance! Carry a directory, for pete's sake!
