Go to the "Construction Zone" forum . . . then go to the "Christmas Icons" message and read instructions there.

Well let's see..........this being a very new company........I wasn't even sure til I got my paycheck if we got paid for the day after Thanksgiving when the office was closed.  HAHAHAHAHAho hum.

Anyway

I have no idea if they are doing anything special for holiday observances here.  (I don't refer to much of anything this time of year by a specific holiday because so many people celebrate so many different ones. . . . don't get me started    )  I did, however, ask for and get Friday 12/22 off paid because of a . . . situation that happened that ultimately prevented me from going to see my family at Thanksgiving as originally planned.

$.015 from me

shannon

***PS***  I just found out we get both holiday Fridays off!  That means two 4-day weekends in a row...............*siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh*  I love it

Well, we've never gotten a bonus at Christmas, either from the company that hired me, and I doubt if the company that bought us will, because they do something else (a % based on profits) once a year.

But on the other hand, I've always gotten treated well by the sales staff here.  Gift certificates and cash, presents...you name it!  Things have changed alot since our merger though...but I won't complain.  I still mostly love my job, and you really can't ask for more than that!

We get a "year end" bonus based on performance and length of service, since it's my first year here not sure how much it will be.

No bonus, but we will receive our bi-yearly profit sharing in cash.  Don't know how much it will be until the books close, but it's more than I had, so I'm not complaining!!!

Happy Holidays to all!!!!!

We don't get a monetary Christmas bonus, but we get 2 days off, a very nice Christmas dinner dance and $30 worth of fast food coupons.  (I work for a nationally known fast food corporation.)  I have never worked anywhere where secretaries got a monetary Christmas bonus.

No permanent job, ergo no bonus. If you see a little girl in rags selling matches, throw her a quarter. It'll be me! Seriously, it's just too demoralizing trying to jobhunt during the holidays. I'll be laying low and hope my friends and family understand that presents aren't an option this year.

However (to close on a more upbeat note), I once had a boss who somehow found out I didn't have a television and bought me one for Christmas. I still have it.

Cheers,

We don't get holiday bonuses other than a gift certificate for a ham or turkey at Kroger for our family's holiday meal.  We do have a very nice dinner/dance type holiday party that includes our spouses - none of this is done by the company as a whole, just the business unit.    Support staff doesn't rate a bonus - neither holiday bonus or end of year performance bonus.  However, we do get the day after Thanksgiving, Xmas Eve, Xmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.  And I have a really great boss who comes through with some pretty good gifts on his own, both at Christmas and on Admin Prof. Day.

this year.  I've worked here almost 4 years now, and since I've been here, no bonuses have been given.  Though, we do have a new General Manager, so who knows, maybe they'll surprise us?  Before I came to work here, they used to give bonuses.

We do receive about 14 days (paid) off!  Can you imagine, 3 weeks paid vacation PLUS the extra two weeks off during the holidays?!  Anyway, I'm so happy because hubby has this time off as well.  Very rarely do we have time off at the same time.  I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

14 Days off? Suh-WEET! I was just saying to my sweetie the other day, remember when we were in school and they gave us the week before AND the week after Christmas off? Then in college we had all the way from the week before Xmas 'til the day after MLKing day - those were the days!

In Germany it is quite common to have a christmas bonus in the form of an extra (13th) salary or even a 14th salary additionally. However, our company does not give any bonus at all. We do have a huge christmas party, usually with one or two overnight stays, but unfortunately no extra money. But looking at your answers, I am obviously not the only one at all.

Barbara,

Your english is coming along nicely, stop worrying so much about it   We're Admins after all and we are well used to trying to translate for our bosses, translating YOU is easy and fun! This will be a great place to practice and we'll be happy to help.

Here's a link which might help you some too, it's from our resources page and is a translator.  It's not perfect, but not too bad either!.
