Most of my bosses in the past few years have been women. I have gone for fairly conservative gifts such as: a planted basket, a crystal vase (if you are in Britain, Dartington Crystal is tasteful and simple), a leather business card holder, voucher for a manicure at a really nice nail place, a rocker blotter, books if I know what sort of books bossie likes. Desky-presents seem to work well with my bossies. Failing all else, chocolates from Godiva, Charbonnel or Praestat.
