You're doing just fine, and we all understand. :-) Glad to have you here to give us another perspective on things.
Happy holidays from sunny Daytona Beach Florida

Barbara - just wanted to welcome you to TAA.
My son took German in high school for 3 years.....my ancestors were German....but I can't speak or write a word of it!
You'll find all kinds of help, advice and humor at this site. We look forward to hearing from you often!
Hope your holidays are happy!
Take care

You guys make me want to cry when I read about turkeys and hams and dinners. You deserve better, or at least more!! I get a bonus now, as I'm considered management, but I do all my own admin stuff and help anybody who needs it here and there with the same, due to size of the company. Frankly, I think the more "management" you are, the more work you need to do for everybody just for the sake of goodwill. I got a better bonus as an admin, but, I left that job because it literally made me sick. The bonus was 15% of my base salary at that time, but *believe me* I earned every single little penny of it and then some! So, maybe a dinner and a good wish is better than nothing at all. Merry Christmas to all!

We don't get money, we get the chance to win a day off with pay, or a gift certificate to the mall, or some such. We used to get certificates for $50 towards a christmas tree, but not this year. Oh, and we each get a tin of butter cookies. The last company I worked for gave us 1% of our annual salary as a christmas bonus.

Many, many years ago I got a full extra paycheck every Dec. 15th from our firm plus each person's attorney would give their secretary/assistant a present and/or cash. Last year I was grumpy about receiving $500 for a Christmas bonus from the firm and $75.00 gift certificate from my 2 bosses. I had been promised if I accepted the job I would receive a minimum of $1,000 Christmas bonus. However, this year (different company) neither of my bosses gave me so much as a card or a "Merry Christmas". It was the same drill for Prof. Assistants/Secretaries Day. It hurt my feelings! If that sounds childish I can only say it is hard to watch every other assistant get great gifts and cash and be the only one with nothing. Actually, a kind word would have gone a long way.
Boy, I sure miss the good old days!
