Ok, let's be honest now. We all secretly want to know what other administative assistants/secretaries are taking home in their paychecks. I think it would be helpful if there were a few volunteers to answer some salary/benefits questions. I know everyone may not agree but it would be helpful to others who are trying to present a case to their boss about how much they really should be receiving.
1. What is your base salary? Hourly or Exempt? 2. How many hours do you generally work for overtime and do you get paid for this? 3. Do you feel that you are overworked? Or, that your office is understaffed? 4. Do you work for a small company or for a large company? 5. How many people do you support? 6. Are you provided w/ a cell phone or laptop?
I would really appreciate anyone who volunteers to answer even a few of these questions. I think it's important that we stay informed of where our position stands in relation to others. Thank you in advance.

ooooh! One more important question that I forgot to ask is about location.
Which part of the world are you located? Please be as specific as possible as we all know different locations have different costs of living.
Thanks!

Consider me volunteered! Salary is such a taboo subject nowadays (esp. in the company I work for!). 1. What is your base salary? Hourly or Exempt? Base salary is £24,250 plus benefits (ie contributory pension, free healthcare, bonus (not that we're likely to see any this year ) Also, salary is not that great for my position (PA to CEO) - at least £750 underpaid, locally. 2. How many hours do you generally work for overtime and do you get paid for this? Overtime is not paid - don't generally have to work it, either. 3. Do you feel that you are overworked? Or, that your office is understaffed? Overworked would be a joy - definitely underutilised and thus looking for another job. 4. Do you work for a small company or for a large company? just under 500 in the UK, nearly 1000 worldwide 5. How many people do you support? Officially 2, unofficially 6. 6. Are you provided w/ a cell phone or laptop? No. Location: near Oxford, England.

1. What is your base salary? 18.5k plus pension, healthcare. 2. How many hours do you generally work for overtime and do you get paid for this? Don't do overtime so don't get paid for it. 3. Do you feel that you are overworked? Or, that your office is understaffed? At times but that is a pretty good salary for a PA in Northern Ireland. 4. Do you work for a small company or for a large company? Large, global company. 5. How many people do you support? In my office, the director plus his team - direct line support (4 people) plus 2 other project managers not forgetting 4 other team leads. 6. Are you provided w/ a cell phone or laptop? No - none of these thank heavens!

1. What is your base salary? $33000, plus benefits (health, dental, vision, 401K, a few other odds and ends), plus bonus. 2. How many hours do you generally work for overtime and do you get paid for this? I generally don't have to work overtime, but when I do, I have the choice of getting paid for it or taking it as extra time off (sometimes, that's worth SO much more than the extra money!). 3. Do you feel that you are overworked? Or, that your office is understaffed? Nope, but not underworked either. 4. Do you work for a small company or for a large company? Large company. 5. How many people do you support? 2 6. Are you provided w/ a cell phone or laptop? Yup! Just got a brand new one of each, in fact. They're awesome!

1. $38K USD, Exempt with top of the line medical benefits and they match my retirement contributions. Company-wide bonus program based on overall company performance. 2. About one a month, usually by coming in early. Not paid, but I can use that hour elsewhere if I want to 3. We're a fledgling department so it's rather hard to tell. Some days I'm swamped, some days I'm twiddling my thumbs. 4. HUGE company. Tiny department. A setup like that has its benefits when I need to slip out early for a dr. appointment. Easy to fly under the radar when you need to. 5. Three. 6. Neither. My boss has my personal cell phone number for emergencies, and I can link to our system from home from my own computer if necessary. I haven't done that yet, but the thought was that since I commute over an hour each way, I could work from home in a snowstorm and not lose a personal day. Ok, so here's my info...
1. What is your base salary? Hourly or Exempt? By base salary is $35,505 per year and I get paid $17.07/hour
2. How many hours do you generally work for overtime and do you get paid for this? I have been working anywhere from 2-10 hours overtime almost every week!
3. Do you feel that you are overworked? Or, that your office is understaffed? I feel that my office is understaffed and all the work goes to me. I could definitely use some help.
4. Do you work for a small company or for a large company? I work for a small company inside of a large private corporation.
5. How many people do you support? I support 2 VP's (calendar management, meetings, travel, the works) I also act as office manager (organize all company functions, deal w/ new hires, security issues, anytime anyone has an issue about anything, they come to me) 6. Are you provided w/ a cell phone or laptop? Supposedly I can have a laptop soon but that's not on the top of the list of priorites right now (I think they like the fact that I live 5 min away and just drive to the office for any extra work that I have to do!)
I work in the Boston, Massachusetts (US) area.

tiffanyctd -
I'm interested to know if you think you get paid more or less than others in FL. Also, how many years experience do you have? Do you do any office management worK? It sounds like you work for a great company! I'm jealous! =)

Didface -
How many years experience? Sounds like your company is great too. I think I'm getting ripped off at my place. I work for a big name global company and have a feeling they aren't compensating me enough.

1. What is your base salary? Hourly or Exempt? £24,500-26,600 (not sure what exempt is) plus final-salary pension. Also have facility for interest-free loan for annual travel pass and "useful, non-approved training" (ie where they cannot afford to fund it but see the benefit of you undertaking the training). 2. How many hours do you generally work for overtime and do you get paid for this? 5ish hours per week - not paid, but flexi system in operation. Hours worked after 7pm can be accrued and taken as TOIL. 3. Do you feel that you are overworked? Or, that your office is understaffed? Always overworked - part of the "juggling priorities" culture we work in. Not practically understaffed, but compared to equivalent offices in my organisation we would appear to be (perhaps we just work smarter?). 4. Do you work for a small company or for a large company? Large - 20,000 staff, 7,000 within my department - all staff based within approx 20 miles of city centre. 5. How many people do you support? one - strategic director 6. Are you provided w/ a cell phone or laptop? Neither - have use of laptop (shared within office) for minuting meetings, etc. Have no need for mobility due to nature of work. 4. Do you work for a small company or for a large company? Small company.
5. How many people do you support? 2 officially (3 unofficially)
6. Are you provided w/ a cell phone or laptop? No
