I am an Administrative Assistant, working in the Public Sector. My pay grade used to be hirer than the gals in our other districts, their bosses reported to mine who is a director. They were up graded so now we are all the same pay grade. My problem is that most of them come to me with questions on things that my boss passes down to their bosses or if they have questions regarding work they may be doing for me/my boss. And some times their bosses come to me with questions All because I work for their big boss. I do not supervise them. I also meet with the other Admins on a quarterly bases to realy any changes down the pike, I listen to their problems take thing back to my boss that they may want me to. My boss likes that I have these meeting so that everyone is on the same page so on. I want to type something up that states I do this type of work because it is not the type of work that you see result in black and white, much of what I do it like this. I am due for an evaluation and would like this noted, and I feel I should put it in print, my question is how do I make this sound professional. I am thinking I should give this to my boss before the evaluation so he takes these things under consideration. Please excuse the spelling or grammer of this post, (no spell checker) Any sugestions would be welcome.

Hi Rowan
Not sure how to put it into the exact words (I'm suffering severe brain fog today!) but I would tell your boss that you act as a kind of mentor for the other admins in the company. I did the same at a job I held a good few years ago and made sure that my boss was aware of how much time I spent either tutoring other secretaries or just plain old giving advice. "Mentor" was the word / expression that suited both activities and, though it wasn't an official duty & I wasn't the head secretary or anything remotely similar, people came to me for advice... It's a good feeling!
I do hope this has helped in some small way. Good luck with your evaluation and do let us know how you get on.
