Nothing. In this job I have a better salary, a better boss, great holidays and all the tools I need to do my job.
It's when others don't make use of those tools that I get narked. Some just need training!

I miss my little department working in their own office. A lot of time it was just me and I could lock the door and pretend I wasn't there!

LOL Well I agree on the tv. I never did that. But the ability to stay in pj's if I wanted or take two hour lunches (which I easily could - I could just start at whatever time and finish at whatever time I wanted) was one of the benefits!!!

I'm on the fence on working from home - of course working in my pjs would be wonderful. I think I would miss wearing my suits and some of the social parts of work. And the gym at work that is my lunch - sad I know. Then there are days where they all get on my last nerve and working along would be nirvana!
I miss a little corner office that I had a very long time ago (working for my number one worst boss). It was only a corner because it had the kitchen on one side and stairs on the other. No one wanted it and it was next to the president's office, so the admin got it. But it had a window and a wonderful weeping willow tree out side and a door I could shut.

I too have thought about the advantages and disadvantages of working from home. The biggest advanage would the the two extra hours a day I'd gain with no commute! I'd like to be able to start working at 6:30 or 7AM and knock off around 3:30, but other people's schedules probably wouldn't work well with that. Plus there's all the paper that would need to be trotted back and forth -- so much for going paperless! That and hubby already works from home so we'd be tripping over each other. (I tried working from home one day when we had an ice storm in my area, but other regions around the city just got rain. It didn't work well with the two of us in the house, jockeying for the one computer and internet connection.)

I do those hours anyway Katie...at my desk at 07.30 and leave 4.30pm.
I've worked up so much flexi of late I've been leaving at 4pm the past 2 weeks!

For me would have to be my own office and if I am allowed another able to work from home at times.
Often difficult to shut others out when so much noise going and when I am working on something that I need to concentrate on in open plan office but having said that, when I used to have my own office, at times you did feel cut off.

Because we all work in an open plan environment, noise levels are kept to a minimum, and is respected by everyone.

I am certain that my colleagues do not go out of their way to keep noise levels high but just the general hub-bub of office life I guess, ie people talking on phones at the same time, others passing through and talking to others and so on. Most of the time it does blend into the background but other times it does not. No major problem in the course of the day really. There are times when I am proof reading a document for example and am concentrating, but I subconsciously pick up on another conversation and find that more interesting so get distracted...........
