I had a strange request today, and it got me thinking of all the other strange and crazy questions and requests I've had lately, especially at this job. I'm sure you all as well are the "end all" for questions that no one else seems to be able to answer. Here are a few of mine, please share yours for a giggle today:
"The electricians are smelly, can someone talk to them about hygiene?" (electricians are working in the vacant office space in our building, this person had to simply walk by them to get to our office, it's not as though they were working at her desk!)
"Can you go smell the bathroom? It smells like curdled milk."
In response to an email sent out to employees who were using the vacant office space next door to do their lunchtime walking in inclement weather that the locks would be changed for a new tenant: "Can you ask them to give me a key so I can still walk? It's really convenient, like a track."
"Can you find out what kind of paint they are using next door?" (Again with the office space, not owned by us, not maintained by us, contractors and subcontractors working for another entity altogether)

I just had a thought - in response to the smelly bathroom, I would have loved to recommend the use of a better deodorant! (evil I know, but funny!), so what other facetious answers would anyone give to the same questions?

In the words of Friends....."the one where" someone asks, I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question but.....
It drives me nuts! Stop assuming everything is a stupid question and just flipping well ask it!

Is there such a thing as a stupid question? My response when some says "can I ask a stupid question?" is "only if you want a stupid answer!"
Don't think I've ever had a strange request, I'll think on that one.
As for smelly bathrooms/kitchens, why do people pass that information on! I annoys the irk out of me that "I'm" the only one who can deal with this! It takes me more effort to go and open a window, spray an air freshner than the person who discovered it and could have dealt with it at the time! (as you can guess we had this one yesterday as well!)

I once worked for a somewhat eccentric professor. His office was on the second floor and some construction workers were working on the sidewalk below his window. He asked me to tell them to keep the noise down because it was bothering him. I told them, but rolled my eyes as I talked to them. They laughed and kept on working!

OK, we haven't had any smelly workers, but we did have a Fedex man that smelled SO GOOD, we'd all run into the hall after he walked through the building just to get a whiff of the lingering scent!! I don't know what cologne he used but it was wonderful.

Do you have a Facilities Dept? Direct them there for questions and complaints regarding the office. As far a hygiene, the need to understand these people are working hard labor jobs and will break a sweat from time to time. I say, get over it. now, if the hygiene problem is a co-worker, they need to talk to the HR Dept. on how to deal with the matter tactfully and respectfully. Some people may have a physical condition ie: health issue, that causes body odor. If it is due to just plain poor hygiene, they need to discuss with HR.

Marie .... my boss is like that with his aftershave. He smells so good, it's really difficult to concentrate as the man apparently showers in the stuff and it lingers for ages. My boss looks like Phil Mitchell (Eastenders character) so the looks and the lovely smell don't go together (well fo rme anyway) LOL.
