I am applying for a Executive Assistant Position with the company I have been an Admin for two years. It would assist the VP of Corporate Engineering/ Facilities and Construction. This is a newly created position, which means that there is no one in the department whom I can ask re: the character of this VP. What are some good questions to ask to ascertain his management style / personality?

Here are some questions I would ask:
Can you give an example of what kind of initiative you would like your assistant to show?
Have you ever had an assistant show more initiative than you wanted and how did you respond to that situation?
What is your position on training for administrative professionals?
If I were to talk to one of your former administrative professionals, how would they describe your management style?
What is your vision of a "dream assistant"? OR (if they haven't had one) Think of the best assistant you have ever observed. What qualities does that individual have that make them stand out?

Excellent questions above I would add I would ask him what his management style is? I would also ask him to describe himself in one word (can be very telling) - but have an answer ready if he flips the question back to you.

The position was scrapped. I was not told why. Human Resources contacted me before the interview. So, I will be applying for another.
