I think we've talked about this before, but we are about to run out on our lease on copiers and I am doing some investigative work on some copiers that we are looking at to replace our 5 year old Cannon copiers, which BTW seemed to do very well up til the last year or so.

Questions:

What current copiers do you have and how has the maintenance been on them to date?
Do you go thru a vendor to lease machines or buy them?

I think these are leased machines at current date and is running out next month some time.

We are looking at Sharp AR-650, Cannon Image Runner 6000 and Mita 6230, these are all digital copiers.  Anyone have any experience with these machines?

Thanks in advance for any input.

We have a digital Xerox which seems to have been programmed by somebody who don't speaka da inglesh too good.  It has some nasty little tricks, but my favorite is the one where, if you are trying to copy a non-standard size document (or don't have your document exactly in the right place on the glass) it will tell you to load A-4 (non-standard) size paper.  However, the way it makes the request, most people believe it means that it is out of paper and will bend down to open the (full) papertray.  I saw this happen several times a day, every day,  until they wheeled the durn thing away and I can't see it anymore!

Also, the reset options were pre-programmed to like 1/2 an hour or so, so it never reset!  And fixing that took a special code that it took me several hours bouncing from customer service rep to technician to find!  Our local rep - always (as near as we can figure) out playing golf.  It hasn't been good.

Moral of the story - make sure, in the very least, technical help is nearby and available.

We have a Canon GP335, now superseded by the way, for the last 2.5 years and it's been excellent.  The fax is integrated in it so I was a bit nevous at first because if the copier breaks down, the fax doesn't work!!!  However it only happened once and the response time is usually very good (2 to 3 hrs in general)
I am definitely getting another Canon, probably the GP400 (I think it's the one that replaces the GP335).  However I am not likely to through Canon direct as I think they are a bit expensive.  We are in the process of getting an IR3300 for another site and the lease with this dealer is cheaper than the lease for the GP335 with Canon.

We just purchased a Canon Imagerunner 3300, which I LOVE!!
We had a Canon 6250 before that.  We have never had many service problems with the Canon equipment but we also have a great company that services them.  We always buy instead of leasing.  Since we have several offices, we are able to send the "not so new" stuff to replace someone elses "really old stuff".
