If you have to have someone covering in the office while you're out, provide them a list of the "hot topics" with instructions on what to do with them (ie. hold for me or forward to so-and-so in my stead) and a list of alternative folks they can send phone calls to based on topics. Otherwise, as everyone has pointed out, it's not a bad idea to be gone at the same time bossie is. You don't have to worry that bossie is going to lose something that only you knew where was, bossie doesn't feel lost without you, and you both come back refreshed to the same situation. Enjoy!
