Wondering how to work with a boss who does not show up to the office, blows off calls with higher ups, cancels meetings from the schedule and does not tell me, urgh.  Does not provide the courtousy of a phone call or e-mail to say "out today", or I've decided to work from home....or waits until 11:30 AM to send an e-mail stating she is working from home.  Does this when her boss is traveling and not in.  I guess I was spoiled by old boss.  Mr dependable, was where he was supposed to be, let me know if not coming into the office or things change. If he was not there by 8:15 AM or if I had not heard from him, I would get concerned.  This one, blocks off the first hour of the day because she is not a morning person and may be late.  Strolls in between 8Am - 9Am.  He communicated with me.  It has been 10 months, and still trying to get into sync with new boss.

Haven't I just posted about this in the past week, let alone the whole time I've been on DD?!

Peaches, your previous boss was unique, he wanted to be managed and you obviously did a good job, so he trusted you.  Others don't want to be managed at all.  They like to keep themselves aloof.

Personally I am beginning to realise you cannot change a person no matter how they behave.  What I would do is file and note all of this.  Then when it comes to your annual appraisal/review, you can state your frustrations and how you could do a better job, if only...

Believe me, I will doing that and more.
